Leadership/Mentoring

Morning Bliss >

To Inspire, Motivate,  Reach & Realize!
Come and join me (Carmen) with daily words from the Holy Spirit and have a cup of tea or your favorite coffee with me this AM.  Drink in God's words for you today!

Honestly, I wake up each morning with a word that the Lord gives me for you.

DAY 13

GOOD MORNING!

Today I celebrate your life today!

"Welcome to this life! Welcome to this world! You can do it!  You can get up! You can put one foot in front the other.  Get up and eat some protein.  Get up and get dressed! Go for a walk in the sunshine!"  I am writing what comes to me and as I write, I realize those are the words the Lord is saying and he is speaking to someone who is depressed. Yep, that is the way depression feels- the blahs, the blues, no energy, no excitement.  You can see nothing good about your life, right now. Like Elijha in the midst of his attack of sorcery from Jezebelle, he cried to the Lord and begged, "let me die." And God said, "NO!, Tell me why you are here, Elijha?" He was asking Elijaha to get off his chest what was bothering him." Elijha had a psychotherapy session, two in fact. Then God told him, you still have a destiny Elijah. "Go and anoint Elisha, and Jehu."  Your life is not over. Get some Sam-E, some St. Johns Warts, some Ginsing.  Those are supplements that help the depletion of the body through the stress and strain of life.  Just admit, I need help.  I need to talk to someone.
"Call unto me and I will answer you.  Cry out to me, and I am there!"

DAY 12

"For from of old, men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, nor has the eye seen a God besides You, Who Works and shows Himself active on behalf of him [earnestly] waits for Him, Isa. 64:4."

Once again, you may not feel like God is there for you, but the verse reveals that when you don't feel like he is there, he is working behind the scenes actively on your behalf.  I love that scripture.  "My child you can't imagine what I have in store for you!  It is nothing like you have ever experienced before.  I am working on your behalf and making a way through those circumstances that seem to have gotten the best of you.  I am your Holy Creator, Lord of all and as you give me everything and let go of trying to control the circumstances and make them turn out the way you think they should, I will do exceedingly abunduntly above all that you have seen or heard before now.  Behold I do a new thing!

DAY 11
JEHOVAH JIREH,MY PROVIDER

There is a song... "Jehovah Jireh my provider, his grace is sufficient for me"  My God shall supply all your needs according to  his riches in glory in Christ, Jesus.
There are several powerful thoughts we could take from above. Jireh in the Hebrew means Pro and video which translates into seeing ahead.  God, your heavenly Father, sees what you need even before you need it.  As Daddy God, he provides for you, as you ask and trust Him to meet your needs.  What is it you are needing right now?  is something I often ask at our seminars.  If Jesus was standing before you right now, ready to grant whatever you wanted, what would you ask him for?  For me that is a hard one there are so many things I am believing Him for, but often there is just one priority that stands out and is more prominent then all others.  Ask Him trust Him and stand back and see the salvation of God. "My child, know that I am ever here waiting to bless you.  I am always here wanting to fulfill your deepest desires and highest dreams, I know sometimes you feel like Joseph in the prison, but I want you to know that that is a temporary situation, there is hope, there is provision if you can see past the pit into my palace of provision for you.! Trust Me today? I keep my promises!"

DAY 10

CONTENTMENT!
(Modest Satisfaction)

Mornings are a good time to spend with the Lord.  Mornings are a time to relax and reflect on your life and contemplate on the possibilities in God.  It can be a sweet time of just affirming, "I can find contentment in Christ."  "My child your place of contentment is found by resting in who you are in me.  I am the Alpha and Omega.  The First and the Last. I am the initiator of sweet possibities and I am the fullfiller of the Promise.  I am the bookends for your life.  I bloster you up.  I go before you and I am there already when you get there so there is no need to strive or to drive. Instead, learn to flow in me and let my life flow through you to refresh and restore.    I am the End all a Be All to you!  Everything you need is found in Me.  I want to be there for you.  I want you to know I accept you and delight in you!"  Spend your todays knowing that.

DAY 9

YOU ARE BLESSED!

"You are blessed when you are at the end of your rope. With less of you there is more of God and his rule (Matt.5:2." This is the first of the Beatitudes from the Message Bible

The King James states, "Blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." There is a paradox of God's life working in us, isn't there?  "My child know this, that this life is not about building up your ego to become superman or wonder woman.  It is about becoming like my Son, Jesus.  It's OK to admit that you need help. It is OK to ask Me to help you.  Don't try to be where you can't be.  Don't try to be someone you are not.  We must walk hand in hand.  I accept you where you are.  If you are at the end of your rope then know that is the place of desperation.  That is the place that makes room for me.  That is the place where you surrender and I can help.  Ask, Seek, Knock. Hold on, I am coming for you! Trust me and watch what I will do."

day 8

"I no longer call you servant, but friend" Jn. 14

Sometimes we feel all alone. Sometimes we feel like there is no one there for us because no one says, I understand or I see your pain.  I think when Jesus said. "I no longer call you servant but friend," to his disciples, he was letting them know that he saw their need for friendship and was clearly saying," I am here for you in the capacity that you need me to be here for you.  I am not going to push you around or be one up with you and I am not going to use you to make me look good. You are not just a number to me or a face in the" crowd.  How often we fee lthe pain of being alone, because leaders want to Lord it over us?  I always thought church should be like a "MASH"  (Mobile Army Surgical Hospital) Unit where we could be healed of the wounds of life, such as, _________________ (you fill in the blank).  If you have ever seen the old Monty Python's "Flying Circus," the you remember the scene where the knight is wounded?  In that scene the knight's arm has been cut off and he is bleeding to death.  He says as he is standing up holding his hand over the fatal wound, "Oh, I'm alright.  It's just a flesh wound" and he continues to fight till the death. The sabbath rest is about Jesus being our friend, being there for us and saying, "rest and heal, my child."  You are not alone my friend, and I see your pain.  Please take time to be still and know that as you rest you will feel my presence.  As you take a cup of the sabbath's rest you will drink a cup of friendship and be filled."

day 7

You are not alone!

There is a beautiful scripture in Deutoronomy.  "Underneth are His everlasting arms."

"My child, I am bearing you up with the strength of my all encompassing arms today.  I am hugging you.  I am holding you.  I am pouring my love and presence into you today.  I want to remind you you are not alone, and nothing, nothing, nothing can separate me from you.  I see your pain. I see your fear. I see your reluctence to trust me. I see your turmoil. I see it when you feel confused and alone  and I want you to know I am there.  Allow me to hold you till all your pain is gone.  I want to hold you till you feel my everlasting arms around you. Remember, when you look back you sometimes see only one set of footprints in the sand and you ask where I was?  Those are my footprints in the sand because my big loving arms have swooped you up and I am carrying you for all eternity.
Let me not only carry you but carry your burdens too.  Give me everylast one.  I am strong enough, Almighty enough to be all you need for today.

day 6

You are probably to young to remember this but there was a cartoon character in the newspaper named Pogo. Pogo made an incredibly wise statement one time. "All too often the enemy is us."

"The Lord will cause His Glorious voice to be heard...." Is. 30:30
We can be our own worse enemy.  Sometimes, the voice we hear is shouting louder than the still small voice of the Spirit. When we have been abused, the voice of the enemy (which can sound like us) shouts louder than that still small voice.  We hear we are unworthy, we hear that we don't deserve the good things in life and we feel "less than" most people. When we align with those words, we become our own enemy.  Know that those voices are often the fruit of a root.  Follow the fruit to get to the root.  Daddy God wants you to know He does all things FIRST CLASS and the same Blood shed by Him on Calvary for everyone else is the same Blood that causes you to heal, to be cleansed from the pain of yesterday that has caused you to feel "less than". We can believe God's word for others but not for ourselves. It takes effort to personalize His word to you.
"Align with me my Child.  Agree with what my word says about you! For what I speak is to you and for you.  Yes, I will hasten my word to perform it for you! I see you as my child of the Royal Crown.  You are from the realm of royalty. I see you as my beautiful new creation of holiness. You are my child of Glory! Dwell in my newness of life.  Know that I am taking the fabric of your life and making a new tapestry out of it.  Some of the old threads are there, but the pattern is new and I am personalizing it for you."

day 5

"Be still and know that I AM GOD" Ps.48:10

In my counseling office, I often hear how people feel like they need to perform for God.  It is hard for the flesh to let go of the fact that in God's prensence all we have to do is "be" and He delights in that.  I don't have to jump through religious hoops to be accepted by Him.
"My child I created you to enjoy me and I to enjoy you.  Simply come before Me and come simply in to my presence.  Come as a child, for you are my child.  Lay down all the masks, the pretenses, the prefuntory praise and just sit with me a little while. Learn to be at my feet."

When Mother Teresa was asked how she prays, she said, "I listen." Then the interviewer asked what does God say? "He listens."
Be still and know that I AM God,

Be still and know that I AM

Be still and know

Be still

Be.
day 4

This morning I heard the word "Enpowerment" then the scripture....

"He makes my feet like hindes' feet [able to stand firmly or make progress on the dangerous heights of testing and trouble]: He sets me securely upon my high places"  Ps.18:33

I empower you my child, to make progress in this life. I empower you to persevere.  I empower you to overcome- to succeed.  It is in Me that you are able to stand firm against tests and trouble.  Promotion comes from Me.  Look to me for I want to equip you to make it to those high places you desire.  I establish you coming and going.  I establish you to make it to those high places that are designed only for you to fulfill. Just as the little hind has an inate ability to move and navigate on the rough and jagged mountains and not loose her footing, I have placed my divine DNA within you so that you are a partaker of my Divine Nature.  I have equipped you and will continue to equip you and empower you to go to the next level.  Jump for Joy! For you are mine and I have given you everything that pretains to life and godliness.  You can overcome today, no matter what you are facing.  I did not create you for defeat.  Draw from my infinate Wisdom today! Just trust in Me?

day 3

*"LIFE BREAKS EVERYONE, BUT SOME ARE STRONG AT THE BROKEN PLACES"

"my grace is sufficient for thee" 2 Corin.12-9

The Amplified says it this way. "My grace- My favor and loving- kindness and mercy are enough for you, [that is, sufficient against any danger and to enable you to bear trouble manfully] <(I would revise that word and say Christly. Sometimes we need to make up our own words);  In our weak places, we often do not feel strong.  But this is what Jesus is saying to you today.  "My grace is your strength.  Did you know that? Grace is intended to strengthen your walk, your confidence in me and what I can do in you, for you and through you.  You may feel that you are at the end of your strength and can't go on, but that is where the unseen realm of my sustenance and power flows. It flows silently and undetected sometimes, but it is my secret weapon for you.  You are accepted in the beloved.  I wrap my loving arms around you this morning for the glory of my sweet embrace.  Receive my grace today, my child.
Let it flow into you and out through you to influence your speher of influence, today and others will see the difference in you." I have designed you to be strong at the broken places.  My grace flows into you and is the glue that will hold it together for you.  Always remember, I love YOU!"

*(Hemingway)

day 2

"Our hearts are restless until we rest in thee" St. Augustine.

Taste and see that I am good, my child. I give you my rest, my love. I love you and I want to give you my joy, my peace, my love.
Come and dine with me.  Abide with me in my secret place.  I am your high tower, your fortress, your place of protection, your safe place.  I am your place of restoration.  Let me cause you to recover all that was taken from you.  Sit in my presence and let me pour my waters of refreshing into you today.  I love you!

Psalm 91: "You who sit down in the High God's presence spend the night in Shaddai's shadow.
Say this: "God, you are my refuge, I trust in you and I'm safe!"
That's right- he recues you from hidden traps shields you from deadly hazards.
His huge outstreched arms protect you-- Under them you are perfectly safe; his arms fend off all harm."

read Psalm 27 (The Message Bible)

"When we are really honest with ourselves we must admit our lives are all that really belong to us. So it is how we use our lives that determines the kind of people we are." Ceasar Chavez

DEFENSE MECHANISMS: There are over 29 Defense Mechanisms which could be grouped according to levels of development: Narcissitic, immature, neurotic, and mature. Defense mechanisms are a result of mal-adaptive development due to pain.  Most operate beyond our awareness until we begin to wake up from the trance through the power of the Holy Spirit.  I will only list the most common ones.  Growth has to do with developing a healthy ego and healthy way of functioning as oppossed to a neurotic way of functioning. Neurosis is an emotional disorder in which anxieties, phobias, and obsessions dominate the personality.

One of the ways we can learn about Defense Mechanisms is trying to observe these dynamics in others.  But we use the information to look at ourselves to see how we react when we identify these things in others.  Observing others and gaining good reality testing helps us to grow.

The following list is taken from EGO PSYCHOLOGY AND SOCIAL WORK PRACTICE (Treatment Approaches in the Human Services) by Frances J. Turner.

IDEALIZATION: The overvaluing of a person, place, family, or activity, beyond what is realistic (however, it may seem realistic to the person).  Idealized people (objects) are not perceived for who they are.  By creating an ideal the person sets himself up for dissappointment, even failure or sabotage.  ie Seeing the popular preacher in the pulpit who seems so perfect and good and can do know wrong or the next love interest, job or vacation will be wonderful.

DISPLACEMENT:  Shifting feelings or conflicts about one person/situation onto another.  A woman who is extremely angry at her husband for not coming home on time may displace it on the auto mechanic who keeps her waiting for a long time.

DENIAL: A negation or non-acceptance of reality of one's own behavior, personality or experiences. It is considered a lower level defense mechanism because of the way it distorts reality. The more the denial affects the person's ability to act appropriately in accord with reality, the more serious the denial will be in terms of overall personality dysfunction.

COMPENSATION: A person who perceives himself as having deficits or dificiencies tries to make up for it by an over exaggerated demonstration of opposite behavior. ie. The over ambitious person who is driven to achieve power, success to compensate for feelings of unworthiness.

INTELLECTULIZATION: The warding off of unacceptable affects (feelings) and impulses by thinking about them rather than experiencing them directly. It is similar to Isolation.  People who employ intellectualization extensively appear highly cerebral and can talk at length about topics of seemingly great emotional significance without ever feeling the emotions or situations they describe.

RATIONALIZATION: The use of convincing reasons to justify certain ideas, feelings, or actions so as to avoid recognizing their true underlying motive, which is unacceptable.  A mother with little money who wants to purchase a color TV may rationalize that it is important for her children because she feels guilty about spending money for something she wants but cannot afford.

SOMATIZATION:  Intolorable impulses or conflicts are converted to physical symptoms.  The person may become more preoccupied with his/her physical symptoms, which becomes a substitue for the unacceptable feelings, or internalized conflicts or trauma.

REPRESSION:  a high level defense that serves in keeping painful thoughts and feelings out of awareness. Repression may involve loss of memory of certain tramatic incidents and those associated with painful emotions i.e. a  young woman was told repeatedly of her father's arrest by the Nazis when she was 5 years old.  Despite her love for her father, her presence at the time of the event, and her observable sense of loss afterward, she had no conscious recall of the incident.

REACTION FORMATION:  Like repression keeps certain impulses out of awareness.  This is done by replacing the impulse with the opposite.  A husband who censors his unacceptable angry feelings towards his wife may act in a particularly loving way when irritated (at an unconscious level) by her.

PROJECTION: Attributing to others unacceptable thoughts and feelings that the person himself has but that are not conscious.  At the extreme it may involve serious distortions of others' feelings, attitudes and behaviors.  It diminishes the capacity to test reality and know what is true and accurate about a transaction between individuals.  Delusions may involve projection of one's internal feelings on the outside world.

ISOLATION: Repression of or separating out feelings from a situation.  ie. a young man is unable to be in touch with sad feelings when discussing his father's death, but he cries bitterly when viewing motion pictures where male authority figures die.

UNDOING:  Known as a "psychological erasure"  it involves nullifying or voiding an unacceptable or guilt-provoking act, thought, or feeling. It can take different forms in order to appease the situation.  ie a child who has taken money out of the mother's purse may try to undo the guilty feelings by being overly compliant or loving or volunteering acts of kindness to the mother.

REGRESSION:  A return to an earlier stage of development, level of functioning, or type of behavior in order to avoid the anxieties of the present. Behavior that has been given up reappears.  ie Children who have been toilet trained may lose bladder control after the birth of a sibling.  A woman who has been jilted and rejected by a boyfriend may suddenly become clingy and engage in dependent behavior or even fantasies about a previous boyfriend.  Often the person returns to an earlier stage where they received too much or too little gratification.

INTROJECTION: Is very complicated and I will cover it in class.  It is a major cause of depression in some people.  It mainly has to do with internalizing a person who has caused intense threatening feelings towards the child.  The child internalizes the powerful feelings of hate and turns it towards themselves.
